Snow

This story is an Unstoppable short, meaning eventually if I ever start writing Unstoppables again, this story is a high candidate for a chapter. It all depends on the plot though. It might not work. If it doesn't, I'll have to make it work though, because I really liked this story. It made me really sad though when I wrote it in January. It's best if you read this story before Everytime though. Much better. It'll make more sense I think.

Chrysalis stretched out her arms and felt the snow fall softly on her face. She did a small spin, and heard a small chuckle from behind her. She looked, and saw Caelum.

Chrysalis stopped and looked at her pixie friend as he came closer as she pulled her cloak around her a little tighter.

"Caelum." She said softly, looking him in the eye.

He smiled at her and outstretched his hands. "Contra."

"Chrysalis."

"As long as you are a pixie," he said, smiling slyly. "You’ll always be Contra."

"But my father,"

"Is a fool. Now come."

"Where?"

"Just take my hands. Can’t you trust me?"

"I don’t know."

"We’ve known each other our whole lives. Take my hands."

Chrysalis cautiously placed her hands in his and he pulled her close to him.

"Now see, that wasn’t very far to go." He said with a grin, as he put his arms around her waist.

Chrysalis rolled her eyes as she put her arms around him as well, and laid her head on his chest.

"It’s such a pretty night." She said with a sigh. "I couldn’t help but come outside."

"It’s dreadfully cold though."

"But pretty." She said, looking up at him smiling.

He smiled back and leaned in and kissed her. The two pulled back almost instantly, both shy of the situation. Chrysalis laid her head back on Caelum’s chest, smiling to her self.

"Your father’s going to kill me." he said flatly.

"And you mother as well. But not if they don’t find out."

"Like Romeo and Juliet."

"Two star crossed lovers, bounded by their fates. But as always with a true passion, it ends in tragedy." Chrysalis said softly.

Caelum nodded and kissed the top of her head, then looked into the clear sky.

"Look, there’s only one star in the sky." Caelum said, as Chrysalis raised her head. "Make a wish."

Chrysalis closed her eyes, and made a wish, then looked at Caelum.

"Did you make a wish?"

"Of course. What did you wish for?"

"I can’t tell you. It won’t come true if I do."

"Fair enough I guess."

Caelum leaned in and kissed Chrysalis again, but this time the kiss didn’t happen.

Chrysalis’ eyes flew open, and she was once again sitting in her defense class. She had just been dreaming of a memory, of a night that seemed so far away from reality now that it was slowly crushing her.

"Chrysalis," the teacher said angrily, glaring at her. "That’s the third time this week you’ve fallen asleep in class. I suggest you either take an anti-sleep potion, or you start going to bed earlier. I won’t tolerate this behavior anymore, and the next time it happens, I’m taking you to the headmaster."

"Yes miss."

Chrysalis looked at her two friends, Queenie and Mirage who were sitting beside her, looking at her worriedly.

"Hey, I’m good. Just tired. Not sleeping well." She said with a smile.

Chrysalis let her eyes wander around the room, and they rested on Caelum. He was paying attention to the teacher, and didn’t glance at her once. She sighed, and waited for the end of class.

At the end of class, she grabbed her books as quickly as she could, so she could talk to Caelum, but he was already heading out the door. She rushed to the door to follow him.

"Caelum! Wait!" she called once out the door, but he didn’t stop.

Instead, he jetted into the air, and flew off quickly. She watched him fly off down the hall, and felt tears prick her eyes.

"One night I wished upon a star," she started softly, "But I must have done it wrong."

Instead of crying, she turned and headed the other way.

Across the school, Caelum was saying the same words.

"Because I’m still alone, and you’re still gone."

Everytime (A SongFic)

This is a song fic to Britney Spear's song, Everytime. It's also a fic using the characters of my other story, Unstoppables(http://foreverunstoppable.blogdrive.com). I wrote this a while ago, back in Janurary. Also, if you're going to read this one, make sure you've already read Snow. If you haven't, then go back to the side, and click on Snow and read it, or else your bound to be confused if you ever read it.

Chrysalis sat in her defense class. She was nodding off to sleep again, but she quickly snapped herself away. Her professor would have her wings removed if she fell asleep again.

Her eyes scanned the room, looking for something interesting to keep her awake, and she her eyes lingered on Caelum, the only other pixie in the class. She wished that he would look up from his writing and see her, but he didn’t.

Notice me

Take my hand

Why are we

In strangers land

Our love is strong

Why carry on without me?

She looked away from him, and sat back, closing her eyes.

"You’re not sleeping again Chrysalis, are you?" she heard her professor say.

Chrysalis opened her eye quickly, and looked at her teacher.

"As a matter of fact I’m not. I’m trying to remember the answer to the next question without looking in my book."

"Glad to see your doing your work. Now, since we’re currently studying pixie’s, could you get up and fly, and just try your powers out on a few people?"

"Can’t Caelum? He’s a pixie to you know."

"But he’s male. His strength levels are different in different areas then yours. Besides, it’s usually a female pixie seen in battle."

"No it’s not."

"Chrysalis, you are an Unstoppable. Please, give us a demonstration."

Chrysalis sighed and looked at Mirage and Queenie.

"They’re Unstoppables to." she muttered as she dragged herself to her feet.

Her body felt heavier then usual though, and she could barely stand. She tried to fly, but her wings felt like cement.

Every time I try to fly I fall

Without my wings I feel so small

I guess I need you baby

"I’m sorry. I guess I can’t do it." Chrysalis said, sitting down confused.

"What are you talking about?" Her professor asked, flustered.

"My wings, I’m to tired, they feel like cement blocks. I can’t move them. I’m sorry. It happens."

The professor nodded.

"Alright class, return to your work then." The professor said, before turning and going to sit back at her desk.

"Are you alright Chrys?" Queenie whispered to her.

"Yeah Chrys, that’s never happened to you before." Mirage said, looked at her friend worried.

"Yeah, I’m good. Just really tired."

She laid her head back down the desk, and wish dearly to be taken into a dream world, but she was too worried about what was wrong with her wings. She didn’t know what had happened.

As soon as class ended, she headed to her room and fell asleep.

And every time I see you in my dreams

I see you face it’s haunting me

I guess I need you baby

Chrysalis woke up screaming. She had dreamed that she had watched Caelum die.

She shook her head, trying to shake away the dream, but it refused to leave her. She went to her window, and sat in the windowsill.

Her window faced the east, and she noticed a faint light in the dark sky.

‘I can’t believe I slept that long.’ She thought to herself. ‘I almost wish I didn’t wake up’

Her first class was defense, and of course, Caelum would be there. She looked back over to her bed, and thought she knew she shouldn’t, she wished that he was sleeping in it at the moment.

I make believe

That you are here

It’s the only way

I see clear

What have I done

You seem to move on easy

By the time breakfast was over, and classes were ready to begin, her head was finally clear, and Caelum was the last thing on her mind. She smiled as she headed for class.

The halls were jammed, and she realized that if she didn’t get through soon, she would be late.

She tried to fly again, but once again, her wings refused to cooperate, and she tired herself out with the effort.

Every time I try to fly I fall

Without my wings I feel so small

I guess I need you baby

Chrysalis made it to class late and exhausted. She quickly apologized to her professor, and told her how her wings still weren’t up to speed, and sat down quickly. She looked around the room to see if anyone else was still missing because of the unusual crowding in the hall, and she couldn’t help but noticed that quite a few people were still missing. Including Caelum.

Chrysalis knew that the professor wouldn’t start the class with so many people missing, so she laid her head down on the desk in hopes of catching a few more minutes of sleep.

She was soon dreaming once again.

And every time I see you in my dreams

I see your face you’re haunting me

I guess I need you baby

Chrysalis woke up to a tug on her wings.

"I told you Chrysalis, no more falling asleep. I’ve done everything to try to get you to stop. This time, I’m taking drastic measures. Up, and come with me."

The professor yanked Chrysalis to her feet by her wings, and pulled her out of the room.

The last Chrysalis saw of the room was Caelum’s still empty seat.

The professor took her to the hospital wing, and told her to wait there. Chrysalis did as she was told, and went and sat on one of the beds. She looked to the bed beside her, and saw a face she didn’t want to see.

Caelum.

He was lying in the hospital wing, unconscious. She looked at his face, and noticed it was bruised and cut. She wondered what had happened to him.

The sound of the nurse’s voice broke her out of her thoughts.

"You pixies are a weird breed. His subconscious did this to him."

"What are you talking about?"

"His subconscious beat him up. Must have been his wings that did this to him."

"But why? Why was he so mad at himself?"

"I don’t know if he was really mad at himself, but I did do a search of his mind, and the only thoughts I found were love."

She placed a potion on the nightstand beside him.

"I’ll be back in a minute to deal with you though missy." With that, the nurse disappeared.

Chrysalis sat back on the bed, and looked at Caelum. She began to sing a slow sad song in Latin, hoping that some of the familiar words would reach his unconscious ears.

I may have made it rain

Please forgive me

My weakness caused you pain

And this song is my sorry

The nurse came back as she finished the song, and handed her a potion.

"Take this. It’ll knock you unconscious. Then you won’t feel anything."

"Why? What are you going to do to me?"

"I have a permit to remove your wings temporarily. It’s to keep you from flying around, as flying drains too much of your energy. Only for a few weeks though dear, just so you can get your energy levels back up."

"Never. I won’t do it."

"Just do it." a faint voice said.

Chrysalis looked over at Caelum, and one of his eyes were open, looking at her.

"Contra, just let her. It’s not that bad." With that, he shut his eye, and fell back asleep.

Chrysalis took a breath and drained the potion.

At night I pray

That soon your face will fade away

When Chrysalis woke up, it was nighttime. She looked beside her, and Caelum was no longer in that bed. She felt tears prick her eyes, as she sat up.

"Why do I have to be a pixie that feels? Why can’t I just be a dark pixie and care about nothing?" she asked herself in agony. "I just wish all these feelings would go away." She said softly, before standing up. She tried to fly, so she could go out the window and out into the night sky, but remember that she had her wings clipped.

And every time I try to fly I fall

Without my wings I feel so small

I guess I need you baby

Chrysalis threw herself onto the bed and started sobbing. Her wings were the only things she really had left in her life that could bring her a bit of joy, and now even those were gone. She now felt weak, powerless and useless.

Eventually, she cried herself to sleep.

And every time I see you in my dreams

I see your face you’re haunting me

I guess I need you baby…

Tabby Mathis(part 1)

Tabby sat in her first period class, listening to the teacher drone on. He was talking about the test that has just been returned. Tabby had done well enough on the test, so to her, he was just babbling about nothing.

She caught her friend's eye. Felicia rolled her eyes and stiffled a giggle. Tabby mouth 'How'd you do' and Felicia shot her the thumbs up. Tabby smiled, and mimicked her friend's sign.

The teacher cleared his throat and looked back and forth at the two girls. They both faught off a laugh and pretended to pay attention.

Felicia felt a tap on her back. It was Sara and she handed Felicia a folded piece of paper.

"It's the best one yet!"

She whispered as Felicia turned back to face the front. She unfolded the paper. It was the four of them, Felicia, Tabby, Sara and Alissa, drawn as anime super heros. It was Sara's best drawing to. Felicia folded the paper back up and went to slip it into her purse, when a hand shot out and took it from her. She looked up, startled.

"So Felicia, you think you're different then everyone else in the class?"

"No sire."

"Good."

He ripped the piece of paper in four pieces and dropped them on the desk, then walked away. Tabby looked over at the horrified face of Felicia, and the face of Sara, who was near tears. She was extremely disgusted as she threw her science stuff into her bag. She went over to Sara's desk, threw Sara's stuff into her bag, then shouldered her bag. Then, she pulled Sara to her feet, and left the room, followed by Felicia. The teacher follwed them also.

"Where you do think you're going?

"As far away from you as possible."

Tabby snapped back, still walking. He stopped and told them to return to class, but they ignored him. Once they had turned down another hall, they stopped.

"We're going to be in big trouble, you both realize that right?"

"So what Star, he shouldn't have done that."

"Still we'll be in big trouble tomorrow."

"You two can go back if you want, but I'm not. I have better things to waste my time on. I refuse to go back in there ever again."

"Why are you so stubborn Tabby?"

"I was born that way. I'm going to go have fun with my free morning."

"You're going to skip your next class to?"

"Maybe. It's not like the teacher's going to notice I'm not there."

"You're never like this in class."

"So what Felicia? I'm a good kid, as long as an adult is around."

"So we've noticed."

"Are you guys going back to class?"

"I'm not. Sara?"

"Nah. I think I'll go sit outside and try to re-draw the picture. Want to come?"

"I will. Tabby?"

"No thanks. I have to throw my stuff in my locker."

Tabby gave Sara her stuff, and both Sara and Felicia walked off. Tabby headed to her locker. She opened it, and threw her stuff inside and grabbed her music book. She went to shut the locker when she noticed a note was tapped to the inside of the door.

Probably from Leelia, her locker buddie, she thought, but imeditaly realized the mistake she made. The writing wasn't Leelia's, it was Ram's.

"Aww, no! How'd he get in my locker?"

She pulled the note down and put it in her pocket.

"What are you doing Tabby?"

"Huh? Oh, Alissa. Shouldn't you be in class?"

"Ummmmm, what about you?"

"I left science."

"Again? You're going to fail you know."

"No way! I just got a 93% on my science test! How am I going to fail?"

"Well, I didn't know that."

"You should be in religon though. It's kind of pathetic. You're failing."

"I am not failing religon. The teacher hates me."

"We've been in school for a month no. What could you have possibly done to make the teacher hate you?"

"Well, I tend to either skip or be late a lot."

"And why is that?"

"Well, umm, I honestly don't know."

"Really? And when Jay shows within seconds, what are you going to say?"

"Tabby! That's not why I'm not in class."

"Oh really?"

Tabby looked down the hall and spotted Jay coming. She just smiled.

"Speak of the devil, eh Alissa?"

Tabby said as he walked up to them.

"Tabby."

"What? I didn't do anything, but walk out of my science class."

"Again? Tab, you've really gotta stop doing that."

"Jay, she does it at least once a week."

"Don't your parent's care?"

"Not really. As long as I'm passing, they don't care what I do."

"Lucky. Still, when I first came up to you, you put something in your pocket. What is it?"

"Don't be so nosy Alissa. Curiosity killed the cat."

"Good thing I'm not a cat, huh? Come on Tabby, you know I'll figure it out."

"Sure you will. I have better things to do with my spare time."

The bell rung, signaling the end of class. Tabby groaned and Alissa's grin grew wider.

"Well isn't this great? We have music together!"

"Oh goody. This is going to be absolutly wonderful."

Tabby slammed her locker shut and locked it. Jay had disappeared and Alissa was at her locker, a few locker's down.

"Wait for me Tabby."

"Promise to stop bugging me?"

"Tabby."

"What? I'm not going to answer you! It's for my eyes only."

"So it's a note form Ram."

"No! Why are you so nosy?"

Tabby started to the music room without her friend, but Alissa quickly caught up.

"Why are you so defensive about that? He likes you, who cares?"

"I do! This isn't suppose to happen!"

"You've always been a little weird, but that tops it off. What is going on?"

"I'll tell you at lunch."

"No, now."

"It'll take to long to explain. I need time."

"Then we'll skip."

"No, we can't do that."

Cassi kept walking to music, leaving a baffled Alissa still standing in the hallway.

Tabby not wanting to skip? That was an idea so new and so strange to Alissa that it froze her in her thoughts. The bell rung, bringing her back to reality, and how she was late for music yet again.

She quickly ran to class, hoping the teacher wouldn't be to angry with her. She made it to class while the teacher was taking attedance.

"So you decided to show up today?"

"I've been here all week so far."

"It's Wednesday, and you usually skip two of my classes each week. I think I'll take the time now to wish you a happy weekend, while you're here."

The class laughed and Alissa walked to her seat embarassed. As she sat beside Tabby, Tabby looked away.

"Don't be mad at me Tab."

"I'm not."

"Sure."

"Just don't bother me. I actually have to pay attention in this class, I have almost no idea what's going on."

"I couldn't help you, if you'd let me."

"I don't helo, I just need to pay attention more."

"Girls, do I have to seperate you two?"

The teacher glared at them and Tabby put her head down on the desk. The teacher talked on about music notes and their values and other things like that, when stopped suddenly.

"Tabby, are you alright?"

She walked over to where Tabby was sitting and looked at her. Her face had become very pale.

"I just need some fresh air."

"Hmmmm, you're not looking so good. Maybe someone should do with you."

"No, I won't go anywhere. Class ends soon. I'll be..."

Tabby fainted. The class went into chaos. By the time the teacher had calmed everyone down, the bell had rung, ending the class. Tabby still hadn't come around. Alissa was starting to get worried. "Isn't there anything we can do?"

"Treat her for shock. Watch her and check to make sure she's breathing every few minutes, understand?"

"Umm, yeah."

"Good, I'm going to call a paramedic. The nurse isn't here today."

With that, the teacher left the room.

"Of all days for the nurse not to be at school, huh?"

Alissa mumbled as she checked to make sure Tabby was breathing. She wasn't. Alissa panicked. She didn't know what to do.

She tried to find a pulse, but her hands were shaking to much for her to tell what it was. Just then, Sara and Felicia walked in.

"Where have you-oh my God, what's going on?"

"Tab fainted during class and now she isn't breathing!"

Sara and Felicia rushed over to where Tabby was, and the three of them carefully placed her on the floor.

"Ummm, anyone know CPR?"

"You are the lifeguard Felli."

"Thought you'd say that. Check for a pulse"

"Isn't breathing more important?"

"Yes, no, just don't argue! Sara, go tell someone. Like a teacher. NOW!"

Sara ran off and Alissa started checking for a pulse. Felicia took a breath, said a pray and an apology, and performed CPR on her friend. It didn't work.

"Fel, I can't find a pulse!"

"Keep checking!"

"I've been checking for the past five minutes!"

Both girls were becoming hysterical and were near tears.

Sara ran back into the room followed by the teacher and paramedics. They quickly put Tabby onto a streacher and rushed her out of the room. All three girl watched as their friend disappeared with tears in their eyes.

"She's in the hands of God now girls. Go eat your lunch."

The teacher said softly, nudging them out of the room. They reluctantly left, but didn't eat their lunch.

And for once, they were all on time for their classes.

~*~

A week later, the three girls stood in the school memorial garden, looking at the flower covered memorial stone to their friend.

"Tabby Mathis

Lived everyday,

Like it was her last.

Never to be forgoten."

They place a carnation on the top of the stone.

"Is she really gone?"

Alisaa whispered softly, tears in her eyes. The other two nodded, also crying softly.

"Don't be so upset guys."

A familier voice said. They turned and saw Tabby sitting on the bench.

"Don't get bugged out now. I am dead, just here to say my good-byes."

"Like an angel?"

"Yeah, I'm am angel I guess."

"You don't really look like one."

Indeed she didn't. Her hair was left down, and was being blown around by the light breeze. She was in her usual punk garbe, baggy shorts and t-shirt along with all her acessories and chains. She was wearing her favourite skater shoes on her feet. She laughed at Sara's remark.

"Well, I'm not exactly the perfect angel either. I needed to see you guys one last time though. I might end up reincarnated then end up half way around the world, never to see you guys again. That wouldn't be fun at all."

"Why did you go?"

"Did I have a choice? I would have stayed if I could, but I just couldn't."

"You didn't die on purpose, did you?"

"Like suicide? No. I just died of natural causes. Don't worry, it didn't hurt. I felt, then I didn't." "Weird."

"Yeah, it kind of is, but that's how it happened. I came for a reason though. Kind of like, unfinished business."

She got up and walked over them. She pulled a folded piece of paper out of her pocket and held it out to them. Felicia took it from her.

"What is it?"

"I wrote this that morning. To you three."

She shrugged and looked at her memorial stone and frowned.

"Why wasn't one of your drawing lasered onto this thing, Sara?"

"We made sure one was one your real gravestone. We didn't know this would be put in so quick or we probably would have."

"Oh, alright. Don't worry about it. As long as I've got one of your pictures. I should be going though. Don't want the big guy to get impatient."

She smiled and waved, as she slowly disappeared into nothing, but an empty space. The three girls sighed and sat down on the bench.

"Let's read it."

"Good idea Alissa."

Felicia unfolded the piece of paper and read the note out loud.

'Guys, there something you should know. I don't know when you're going to get this or if you're ever going to read it, but my time is up. Finished, kuput, done. I'm going to be leaving you guys, but I don't know to. Believe me, if I could turn back time, I would make sure I spent every spare minute with you guys. I'm going to miss you, wherever I do end up, and I just hope you'll all remember me in year to come. I've known that this was going ot happen for a long time. Don't aske me how, I just do. That's why I never allowed myself to become close to Ram. It would have made my death even more painful for him. This isn't much of a good-bye letter, but it's the best I've got. Tell everyone I love them for me. I'm gonna miss you guys. Love always. Tabby.'

The girls looked at each other in silence and shock, tears in their eyes once again. The bell rung, signaling the begininning of class for the day. Felicia wiped a few tears from her eyes.

"Wanna skip?"

She said with a small smile. The other girl nodded and smiled weakly. They got up and headed into the school, ready for a new day.

Just A Story

She sat on her bed reading, trying to concentrate on the words on the page. After few minutes of struggling, she threw the book down, and looked around her room. Her eyes rested on the mirror, and her long list of phone numbers written on the right side. She smiled at small handwriting in eyeliner and remembered the day she wrote each individual number down. Her eyes moved slowly to the right side of the mirror, where another phone number was written, not in the middle, but not off to the side either. It was written in red lip liner rather then the usual black eyeliner like the rest of the numbers. As she read the name again, like she did every other time she looked at the mirror, she glared, and remembered where that number came from.

~*~

"You’ve never seen it? You’ve got to be kidding me!"

"No, I haven’t even heard of it." she said, giving him half a smile.

He grinned back, and grabbed her hand.

"Fine then." He said, pulling out a pen. He began to write on the back of her hand. "Here’s my phone number. Call me. We’ll watch it this weekend. We have to watch it this weekend."

She grinned and nodded, glancing at the number, memorizing it, just in case.

The instant she arrived home, she searched out her never been used red lip liner, and re-wrote the number out on the mirror, his name above it. She smiled at it, and swore she’d never take it off.

~*~

"It’s been two months now!" she muttered to herself, as she walked over to her desk. She grabbed the roll of toilet paper she kept there for when she took off nail polish, and pulled some off, wadding it up. She walked over to her dresser, to the mirror, and stood there, staring at the number. She put her hand up to wipe it away, and paused, tears threatening to spill over her eyes.

~*~

"I can’t keep it there anymore. It’s driving me crazy because I know I can never call that number again!" she said, throwing her hands to her side in defeat.

"Don’t worry then." A friend said quickly. "I’ll come over next week, promise, and if you can’t do it, I’ll wipe it off for you."

"I need it gone now."

"I know, but I promise, by next week it will be gone. No matter what, nothing will stop me from getting to your house." The friend said with a smile.

She smiled back. "Thanks. You’re a real friend."

~*~

She pulled her hand back from the mirror completely, and felt numb. Maybe she was making a mistake. Maybe there was still a chance.

"That’s crazy!" she exclaimed, but backed away from her mirror. She sat on her bed, and stared at the mirror, at the phone number, that was giving her so many problems. "This sucks." She said resentfully, continuing to glare.

~*~

"I can’t believe this. You’re crazy." She said, giving her best friend a look while they walked down the hall.

"I’m sorry. But I mean, you liked him, how hard is it for you to understand that I like him?" her best friend said back.

"It’s not that I don’t understand, it’s why that I don’t understand. You don’t seem like the type to like him."

"Well I am."

"Alright, alright. Fine." She said slowly, a hate, an anger, slowly growing for her best friend.

As they walked in an almost awkward silence, he passed by them.

"He shaved his head!" she said quickly to her best friend.

"I know. He said he doesn’t like, so he was shaving it off." Her best friend replied with a shrug.

"He-he did?" she said, almost confused.

"Yeah. But I’ve gotta get to class before I’m late. See ya at lunch!" her best friend headed up the stairs.

"He lied." She said softly then headed to her own class.

~*~

She suddenly felt that anger that she had felt the morning that her best friend had told her that she liked him. She closed her eyes a breathed a few times, trying to calm herself down, but it didn’t work. She stood up suddenly and walked over to her mirror quickly, and ran the piece of toilet paper over his phone number.

"Just like toilet paper, wiping up the shit." She said as she dropped the toilet paper into her garbage can then walked out of her room.

A few days later, she entered the room with a smile on her face, and went directly to her mirror. She gazed at the now empty spot with a smile on her face, and then picked up her red lip liner once again. Taking a quick glance at her hand, she wrote down a number in that place, a new number and a new name. She smiled, than giggled. There was nothing serious between her and the new guy, but there could be. She put the cap back on the lip liner, then put it back on her dresser and left the room.

A few days later, she stood in the hall. Things did become serious with the guy, like she had hoped, and there they were, standing in the hall holding hands talking to friends. She smiled as they talked until she saw him walking down the hall towards them. She wanted to make eye contact, but couldn’t bring herself to bring her eyes up. As he past, she finally looked at him. She saw him glance, and saw the look on his face when he saw them holding hands. ‘Serves him right.’ She thought to herself. ‘He broke up with me. That’s what he gets.’

She stood against the wall of the stairs waiting for her boyfriend. She watched as he walked past her, not passing a second glance at her. She felt guilty about the morning, how he had seen her and her new boyfriend together. ‘He shouldn’t care’ she thought to herself. ‘He broke up with me.’ She looked down the hall and saw her boyfriend coming and smiled. She looked up quickly, and saw him. She got caught in his gaze as he looked down at her, watching her. Their eyes met for a moment, a moment that seemed suspended in time for her before they both broke the gaze at the same time. He headed down the upstairs hallway, disappearing from her sight. She wanted to call out his name, ask him to wait, but her voice was caught in her throat. Without a second glance to her approaching boyfriend, she bounded up the stairs.

At home late that night, she sat typing away at her computer in her bedroom. She soon paused, staring off into space. She wished now, more then ever, that she had called up to him. Or in the least, stopped at his locker and talked to him, walked with him. She wanted nothing more then to hear his soft voice say her name again. See a smile on his face, the light in his eyes once more. She hated herself for it, but she missed it. Without thinking, she tore herself from her computer, and threw herself onto her bed sobbing, crying herself to sleep.

Right Between The Eyes

Belle paced her room anxiously. She knew the phone call she had been dreading all week would come any second now.

She jumped as the phone rang, and looked at the call display box. Her heart sank as she realized it was the call she was dreading. Her boyfriend.

She picked up the phone.

"Hello?"

"Hey baby! Ready for tonight? I sure can’t wait."

He started going on about how their night as going to go.

She looked around her empty room, which had been full of her friends the day before. They had discussed her problem with her boyfriend, and each one of them confirmed her fear, she needed to get rid of him. As each one of them left though, they had all reassured her that they were with her in spirit, and that she needed to stay strong.

But as she looked in the mirror at the room behind her, she realized she was dreadfully alone.

"Hey babes, you there?"

"Of course."

"You’re not saying much. Something wrong?"

"No, just thinking about how fun tonight is going to be."

"Yeah, real fun, if you know what I mean." He said, and started going on about how the night was going to go once again.

Belle looked in the mirror again, and noticed she was still alone, as one silent tear crept down her cheek. She almost sobbed, but she muffled it, and looked down at her dresser, biting her lip.

"So we’re going to have fun tonight?"

His voice made her look up, and as she looked in the mirror, she saw everyone one of her friends that had been in her room, standing behind her. She turned and searched her room, but not a person was to be found. When she looked in her mirror again, they were still there.

‘They were right,’ she though, almost crying tears of joy. ‘They really are here in spirit.’

"Hello? Belle? Are we gonna have fun tonight or not?"

"No." she said softly, not quite sure if she had really said it.

"What was that?"

"No." she said again, louder, stronger, all her confidence returning.

She picked the letter opener that was sitting on her dresser in her free hand, and looked at it.

"What do you mean no? Is there some cryptic message to that?"

"Nope. We’re not going to have fun. But I will."

"You will eh? So this is cryptic."

"No you fool. You don’t quite understand me. You’re an asshole. Get it through your head now. You’re a prick. You don’t respect me for shit. You take advantage of me at every turn any way you can. You don’t deserve me now, you never will nor ever did. You don’t even deserve to own a dog let alone live."

"Are you ok Belle? This is your boyfriend you’re talking to."

"And that’s why I’m saying the things I’m saying. Fuck you."

"What?"

"It’s over."

As she said that, she threw the letter opener at her wall of pictures. She turned away from the wall and faced her window.

"Good-bye." Belle said in her happiest tone, and then hung up the phone.

She took a breath and put the phone on the windowsill, and looked out her window.

The clouds that had been hanging in the sky all day finally broke, shining the sun on Belle’s face. She smiled and basked in the warmth of the sun for a few seconds.

When she finally turned, her eyes searched for her letter opener on the floor, but couldn’t find it. She looked up the wall and found it stuck on one of the pictures.

It was of her and her now ex-boyfriend. The letter opening was in her ex-boyfriend, right between the eyes.

~Written in July, right before I broke up with my boyfriend. Go figure.
